FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 08/26/08
New and Used Records is proud to announce the signing of Shiloe, a three-piece from Los Angeles, CA. Lead by founding members singer/guitarist Ken Ramos and bassist Melissa Pleckham, Shiloe combine the driving force of Sleater Kinney with the atmosphere of Interpol, tied together with the roughness of Sonic Youth. Behind two EPs, Shiloe have caused a stir among some of the most influential tastemakers in music, including KROQ, Indie 103.1, "Buzz Bands" in the LA Times, KXLU, WOXY, and Filter magazine, who featured the band on a compilation earlier this year.
The band's appeal certainly is not limited to the US, as they have received extensive airplay on RadioNowhere and BBC Radio Bristol in the UK, while being featured in Mexican magazine, Indie Rocks and headlining the Radio Alterno 2-year anniversary celebration in Mexico City. Their energetic live show made them finalists in the Zig Zag Live Club Tour sponsored by Spin and CMJ, while the band has played with the likes of Pretty Girls Make Graves, the Court and Spark, Mike Watt, the Henry Clay People, the Morning Benders, and fellow N&UR band, Tigers Can Bite You.
We are thrilled to add Shiloe to our roster of artists. We will release the band's EP, ... And Now the Screaming Starts, on October 14, but you can pick up a copy two days earlier at their CD release show at Spaceland in Los Angeles. That show is sponsored by Get Yer Rocks Off and is FREE.
Check out Shiloe's MySpace for demos of the new tunes, as well as extensive live footage including a pretty amazing Bauhaus cover.
