Today I am enjoying my last day of weekday leisure before returning to the full-on grind tomorrow. For lunch, Hillary and I dined at Out the Door - the "to go" extension of the Slanted Door - located at the newish Bloomingdale's mall; delicious Vietnamese food. On my way home, I stopped at Amoeba and picked up Destroyer's Trouble in Dreams (which I have been anticipating for weeks) and Vampire Weekend's record. I opted to purchase both of vinyl as each came with a code to download the MP3's for free - a rather brilliant idea if you ask me. The Destroyer record even came with this note:Dear Honored Listener:This is not a completely unique idea, as several labels seem to be doing it. I've been interested in doing it myself. It was the free MP3s that persuaded me to fork over a few extra dollars for the records. I like a physical product, but no doubt I would have put the CD into the computer and onto the iPod, thus neglecting the CD most of the time. I'd much rather have the album art in all its glory for said physical product. The Destroyer record is exceptionally cool looking.
Like you, we love vinyl. But let's face it, it's hardly portable. Most of us spend our days away from our turntables, tethered to computers and iPods. We want the convenience of digital music, though we love the 12" album art, the warm sound, and the physical satisfaction of vinyl.
SO we thought we'd give you vinyl fans a little gift.

So much is happening with New and Used/Devil/Lower Class Revolt, but the most pressing matter is this Lower Class Revolt Vol. 1 comp set to drop in June. We're putting the finishing on that (deatils soon I PROMISE) and then it is full steam ahead into some other major projects.

Niiiice shoes! I wonder how long they will stay that white. What a shame I didn't time our vacation better so that you wouldn't be back at the grind. Oh well.
