Does Obama Music Video Help?

I really like Barack Obama ... but I don't know if this video is sending the right message.

Sure, it shows that Obama has a lot of celebrity supporters - unfortunately his more exciting celebrity supporters (like, George Clooney) decided to sit this one out. Celebrity endorsements are cool, but there are some celebrity endorsements you really don't want to have. If will.i.am and Eric Balfour supported me as a presidential candidate, I would be like, "That's cool guys. I appreciate the contribution, but don't feel like you need to tell anyone. Keep it on the down low." Those two guys are a serious buzzkill.

Who is will.i.am? Just a rapper whose group had some underground cred which he traded in for pop stardom by writing cheesy songs like "Don't Phunk With My Heart" and "Let's Get it Started." What's Obama saying - that he's willing to go "mainstream" for the short term gain?

As for Eric Balfour - and you are probably asking yourself, whose Eric Balfour...
... well, if I know one thing about Eric Balfour, it's that Eric Balfour is a show killer. You've probably seen Balfour pop up on some of your favorite shows - Buffy, Six Feet Under, 24 - and the general rule is ... kill off his character or he will kill your show. Seeing as how Balfour does not seem to die in this video, I'm worried about its implications for the Obama campaign. 'Sides, Balfour's made a living out of being a guest star so maybe he cares less about this presidential campaign and more about keeping his SAG membership active.

And will.i.am is such a ho for the highest bidder, something tells me he'd be rhyming "help build a nation" with "Christian nation" for the Huckabee camp if the dollar signs were right.

The lesson learned here - celebrities are cool, but choose your friends wisely.

**UPDATE** I just noticed that Fonzworth Bentley is in this video, but just for like a split second. Seriously, that dude should be pushed to the forefront of the video. There are some seriously random celebs in this video - I'm not even sure I should be calling them celebs. Strange to see Nick Cannon in this video since he's so anti-abortion.

Ouch! Obama really should have asked your advice first.

Ha, and I was figuring Eric Balfour was a hockey player or something.

I may be the only person but I like the little ditty, its catchy.

I cannot decide if I favour him or Hilary more to be honest.

Not that it matters because I don't have the right to vote anyway.

Eh, I guess being a campaign adviser is pretty tough, although I've been feeling quite opinionated lately about how campaigns are being run. To be honest, I'm pretty down with both Barack and Hillary at this point. Just to get somebody not Republican in the white house.
