A Mother's Day EP

To all the moms out there - Happy Mother's Day. And to my mom - I'll see you this afternoon, and Charlie and I will finally clean up the loft. Then we can go out to a nice dinner. Enjoy this EP everybody ...

1•"Lovers Who Uncover," The Little Ones
I have to thank our friends at Rewriteable Content for my knowledge of this band. I won their Sung Song EP in a contest on the website - and it has been spinning in my cd player ever since. They've got a show in SF in a couple weeks ... hopefully I'll be there.

2•"Crocodiles," Kelley Stoltz
Stoltz runs this Echo and the Bunnymen classic through a time machine back to the late sixties and the results are brilliant. In fact, Stoltz covered the entire Crocodiles album ... and called it Crocodials.

3•"My Decora," Spoon
A new discovery for me - Spoon covering Yo La Tengo.

4•"1926," Thalia Zedek
Zedek was the leader singer of Come - which featured Chris Brokaw on guitar. This is from her 2001 release, Been Here and Gone.

5•"Little Eyes," Yo La Tengo
After seeing them on Gilmore Girls I had to dig up a track for this mix.

6•"The Great Salt Lake," Band of Horses
The debut record from Band of Horses is certainly one of this year's best and most intense listening experiences. (Read my review).

7•"Lion's Mane," Iron & Wine
My mom really likes Iron & Wine.

This is so great, Will! Some new music to explore on Mom's Day. Thanks!
Your mom is so lucky to have such great sons who will clean up the loft on Mother's Day. I'm sure she feels really blessed.

Hey, did you know that you have Calgary concert listings on the top of your site? How does that work? Is that specific for IPs that originate in this area, would others see other listings? Or are you just trying to get me to spend more money on concerts?

I'm back - I had some free time to sit down for a listen, and I kept saying "oh that one's my favourite!"
Well you know I dig Band of Horses, but I was also really taken with Yo La Tengo, whom I don't know. Why don't I know them?
And the Little Ones. And Thalia Zedek - oh it was all good, thanks.

Glad you liked them Barbara. Yo La Tengo are one of those bands who've been around for a while that I've heard here and there but never given a full listen. There's just so much music out there. I keep coming back to that Band of Horses album. Happy mother's day to you, Barbara.

And thank you for the sweet compliments Barbara. My mom was happy about the loft cleaning - though much of it was my mess to begin with. You know, as far as the Google AdSense goes, I think it just tailors its ads to what I post about ... though maybe it does specific ips. If so, that is some high tech stuff.

Someone re-did E&TBM's Crocodiles? I'll have to check that out for sure.
