The following contains serious plot details from the episode "Partings"
Towards the end of "Driving Miss Gilmore" - as Sookie and Jackson disposed of several bags of marijuana - we learned that the beloved town troubadour (played by Grant Lee Phillips) was off to open for Neil Young. When the outside world learns about a musician being discovered just playing the streets of Star's Hollow, musicians galore flock to the little town. Among them, Sparks (left), Yo La Tengo and Sonic Youth (watch below). Town proprietor Taylor roams the streets in confusion, until Kirk clues him in to what's going on. "Who's Neil Young?" he asks. "One of the Monkees," Kirk responds. Classic! Phillips returns later in the episode, annoyed that so many others have invaded his turf. As it turns out, he only made $700, got booed and didn't even get to meet Neil Young. This season of Gilmore Girls has been rather schizophrenic and frustrating, but in their final hour, the Palladinos pulled out an absolute gem. While the show will soldier in to its seventh season, executive producers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino will not be there. This is exceptionally frustrating, given what Amy has created in her six years at the helm. The fact that she leaves us with an extreme cliffhanger (Lorelai sleeping with Christopher!) is all the more frustrating. The aptly titled "Partings" was a nice celebration of the quirky humor that has characterized the show mixed with the emotional melodrama that has increased season-to-season.

I've never watched Gilmore Girls, but if they have lines like "who's Neil Young." "One of the Monkees", well by God, a show like that deserves a watch.
I had never watched (had read about),but on your recommendation I watched the finale. It was really interesting with all the street musicians, so cool to see Sonic Youth.
