Pansy Divsion Celebrated in New Doc, Memoir

MP3 - "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" - Pansy Division
The work and career of "queercore" pioneers Pansy Division is celebrated in a pair of new releases - the documentary Pansy Division: Life In A Gay Rock Band and Jon Ginoli's memoir, Deflowered: My Life in Pansy Division. Pansy Division also have a new album, That's So Gay, out March 31.

Life In A Gay Rock Band screens tomorrow night at Artists Television Access in San Francisco. Directed by Michael Carmona, the documentary follows the band through the lineup changes, prejudice and survival that have defined their history, and includes interviews with the likes of Jello Biafra, Rob Halford, and Billie Joe Armstrong. The film will be available on DVD March 31, as well, and will also screen on Ginoli's book tour.

This week, founding member Ginoli is embarking on a promotional tour behind Deflowered that runs through May. All dates can be found here. Ginoli and Pansy Division were recently featured in the San Francisco Chronicle.
