Music+Technology:
Fuzz.com Shutting Down

I received an email yesterday that social networking music site/record label Fuzz.com would be shutting down:
It was with a heavy heart that we finally made the decision to turn off the lights, but because of increasing operating costs and flat revenues it simply no longer makes sense for us to keep Fuzz.com running. We offer our heartfelt thanks for being a part of it, and we'd like to give a special added thanks our avid, core users -- true music fans who made Fuzz their home-base, and created a real sense of community.
I remember when Fuzz first launched back in 2006 - it was right around the time I turned New and Used Records into a label. I was fortunate to meet and speak with a number of the company's employees. All were very giving with their time. Each were extremely helpful and supportive, expressing a strong interest in supporting bands and labels, especially in the local community in which they were based. We wish the best to all at Fuzz and thank them for their support and wisdom.

Thankfully, Fuzz's sister company - Blip.fm - will remain in businees. Blip.fm is quite simply a musical Twitter - a brilliant idea if you ask me. I suggest you join.

These tough economic times have certainly hit the music business very hard. We've seen music-based companies consolidate and shut down, while so many of our industry firends are now looking for work. We wish everyone the best and hope we will make it through these tough times together.

That's a real shame. It's a tough business, especially now.
