Last night, N&UR pal Adrian (from
ipickmynose presented a show at Annie's Social Club in San Francisco, featuring
Geographer,
Two Sheds,
Friday Mile, and
Marabelle Pheonix. I hadn't been out to a show in some time, and Adrian has been singing the praises of Geographer and Two Sheds via his blog and radio show for some time now, so this seemed like one not to be missed. This was one of those great shows where I was greeted by a number of familiar faces. I chatted a bit with Ben and Emily from
The Bay Bridged, as well as Joe from
The Dont's. I was not able to catch Geographer's set because I had a train to catch, but Two Sheds lived up to expectations. Adrian summed up their sound best - "bluesy, folky rock music with some of appreciation of the slowness and spareness (and the tension created by those things) of slowcore all while being drenched in the deceptively simple melodies and gorgeous, breathy female vocals of Caitlin Gutenberger." All in all, a fun night, and nice to be engaging with the San Francisco music scene once again.
