I frequently notice passengers meeting on an airplane for the first time and having a social interaction. This never happens to me. Does that make me boring or unapproachable.

Oh Will! You are neither boring nor unapproachable! But wearing headphones probably does give off a signal that you don't want to be disturbed. And you probably don't.
I have the same problem. I think Barb is right with the headphones though.
