The Return of the N&UR Journal/
A Tour of the N&UR Offices

This fine looking room here is the N&UR office. This is where it all happens - podcasts are edited, blogs are written and emails are sent out. I admit, it's not quite looking its best right now, and I am feeling a tad cramped in as I write this post. About a month back, I got a new phone - the LG Voyager. I'd fantasized about this phone since first reading about it, and initially tried to deprive myself of it given its hefty price tag. I eventually succumbed and needless to say, it has kind of changed my life. My goal for this is year is (an ongoing one that entails) finding a balance between all of the things in my life that keep me busy so that I can ultimately thrive in each of them. How has this phone helped? Essentially its helped feed me email obsession (probably a bad thing) by making it possible for me to always have email with me. This has meant less time spent in this office and more time to focus on other things. I am still working on finding that balance - but at least I seem to be getting somewhere.

I've been away from the internet a bit lately, but it would appear that South by Southwest is in full swing. I decided not to try and make the trip down there this year, and instead use this week as an opportunity to clear my head and catch up on some much needed relaxation. Hillary and I went to Tahoe this past weekend for one night of mild gambling (I actually did remarkably well on the slot machines by my own standards - not to mention at video poker, which I actually have no idea how to play), and one day of skiing. I hadn't gone skiing in a year and this was only my third time on the slopes, but thankfully everything came back to me, and I simply had mild soreness in the rest of my body for the following days.

While relaxing and head-clearing take place, I am also trying to accomplish some work in my new position with Devil in the Woods. Given their history and the kind of albums they put out, I can't really think of a better label for me to be working and collaborating with. I get pretty excited each day.

Current Listening:: Obviously, I'm digging the Gutter Twins (read my review here); I'm also liking Cassettes Won't Listen quite a bit, and I cannot get enough of Snoop Dogg's "Sensual Seduction."

And you owe it all to a new phone? I've got to get out shopping more often, then perhaps I will be able to ski as well.
