The Passionistas' recent trip sounds as if it were rather successful, aside from the car accident that occurred on the way home. Thankfully, no one is seriously injured and the gear is intact. One of my best friends, Filiberto, attended all three weekend shows and filed various reports with me via text messaging. "Nobody here, but they are rockin it," he texted me during their Buffalo Records in-store, the first stop on the mini-tour. The show later that night at Club Good Hurt was a bit better attended, and I'm told the band was accompanied by the club's smoke machine. Saturday's show at Mr. T's Bowl sounded ultra punk rock with five bands on the bill. "Much better crowd," Fili texted me. "A bit older." It sounds as though people hung around, too, for the band's 1:30 start time ... and a CD was sold. Yay!
Thankfully, there's a Passionistas show tomorrow to look forward to - and it's with Pansy Division. It feels like it's been a while since I saw the band live - November was probably the last time.
