This week, confirmations on SXSW performers have begun coming in, at least for the larger acts. I see R.E.M., My Morning Jacket, Black Keys, and the Raveonettes among the confirmed acts - a bit larger than the Passionistas I guess. We are still awaiting our confirmation, which will come no later than February 1. I imagine this means we will hear on February 1. I've never attended the showcase before, and the band has not played it, so should we attend, this year is probably going to be a learning experience. I've come to accept that this year's festival would be less about "breaking in" and more about continuing to get the name out there and build momentum. That being said, I have been working for the last several months to secure party and showcase gigs for the Passionistas, with varying levels of success. Success being "we'll consider you," and the unsuccessful attempts being "maybe next year" or no response at all.I'm actually quite excited about the possibility of attending, if only to fulfill another music lover's dream that I have not been able to yet. Besides, so many people I know will be there, from artists to label heads to bloggers, and I'll also have the chance to meet so many people I've only emailed with. It will be pretty disappointing not to be accepted, as stressful as festival logistics can be to think about. Being accepted would be another notch of legitimacy in this overall fight for acceptance in the music world.
But, should we not be accepted, don't worry for us - we'll try and make the most of an open playing field in some other major cities. The world will hear the Passionistas.

I've got all my digits crossed for you. Playing SXSW would be wonderful! But just attending would be pretty sweet as well.
