This Saturday, the Passionistas will take the stage at Club Eight for the Club
TransAM Rock n Roll Disco. There will be drag performances and giveaways throughout the evening, not to mention two separate dance floors. There has been a lot of coverage about TransAM recently, noting how the club night is steadfastly building a new community - one that brings together rock and roll and the oft-ignored gay audience. "A lot of our friends never go to rock shows because they hate being the only fags in the audience," says promoter Bill Picture in the
SF Bay Guardian. "So we decided to bring the show to the fags." Picture was also interviewed for a recent
Guardian cover story entitled
"Gayest. Music. Ever." which discusses, among other things, this revitalization of the gay club scene that includes TransAM, as well as Club Lady, which the band played last month. Over at the
Guardian's, music blog -
Noise - Picture recently counted down the
"Gayest. Videos. Ever.". And you may recall Picture wrote about the Passionistas and New and Used Records in his
Pop Beat column of the
San Francisco Chronicle.
