Passionistas Almost Bare All For Trans Am

The Passionistas planned a special outfit for their live performance at TransAM this past Saturday. The plan was to wear only their underwear (fashionable tighties from American Apparel I should add) while covering much of their exposed skin in fake blood (Myles does love the fake blood). Minutes before they were set to go on, however, there was no blood to be found. Brave souls that they are, Aaron, Myles, Andrew and Tina, took the stage anyhow and entertained quite possibly the most focused crowd we've had yet. After the stellar set, club promoter Bill Picture introduced each band member to the crowd - and given that they were the only band on the bill, all attention was on them.

It was really a fun evening overall - the DJ was playing classics, drag performances bookended the Passionistas, plus we had a few friends in the audience, and got to make some new ones as we hung around afterwards. We also sold three CD's - I sold two and the band sold another after I left around 1:30. To be honest, such a sale is quite monumental, as we have not sold so many at a show since the CD release, and every sale is quite meaningful.

What I really liked about TransAM was there was a real sense of community at this show, and a very sincere support for the band. It was a great experience hanging around afterwards and getting to meet people who'd enjoyed the band. That's one of the major factors that keeps me going with this label - being able to see the results, or the fans who really do enjoy the Passionistas. It would be great to have a similar sense of community at future shows, and hopefully New and Used Records can start to foster that.

I know that photos were taken, so hopefully we can see some. Otherwise, I have some video to share with you very soon.
