The Music Lovers

Let me say this first - we really like the Music Lovers.

I first came in contact with their music when they were featured on The Bay Bridged. Simultaneously, the Music Lovers posted a kind message over at the Passionistas' MySpace page. I found their take on pop music rather refreshing - schooled in the lessons of Roxy Music and Burt Bacharach, yet unafraid to explore the deepest realms of their genre. Even a sea chanty finds its way into the mix. And, without a doubt, they would have to be the most stylish band in the Bay. All five members maintain an individual sense of style, but it all coordinates so well. This is something bands post-Beatles seem to have forgotten but, trust me, it is quite important.

Over the past couple of months, we've been attending each-others shows and exchanging emails and CDs, and this weekend we finally get to play together. We're trying to make a point this summer to play alongside our favorite acts in the Bay, and with a gig in Sacramento supporting the Music Lovers, it appears we're off to a good start.

For more sweet sounds, head over to their MySpace page, and check out this video for "Masculin Feminin" directed by Margaret Cho.

I also reviewed one of their concerts and shot some video of it for The Bay Bridged.
