I've been thinking about the future of N&UR a little lately ... the post-God's Boat future, that is.
We have a couple of digital only Passionistas-related projects planned for later this year, but I've been thinking about what kind of records I want to put out next year. I started the company so I could put out God's Boat and I want every release to feel the same way. One band is all I can handle at the moment, so I'm not anxious to sign another act by any means. It's just something that has me wondering - I think that whatever it is, it has to feel, fresh, innovative and exciting. However, the chances of falling into a situation like this - where a brilliant record is already completed and waiting for me - are probably not too likely.
The idea of finding and developing talent is rather exciting and maybe the next logical step. God's Boat and all of the promotion around it are our blueprint, which we can maybe then apply to a new artist. I'm also excited at the prospect of the Passionistas finding a young artist, developing and producing them - applying elements of their sound. It's all very exciting really; I'm just not sure how it's going to happen just yet.

Finding new talent - that sounds like too much fun to be a real job. But then again you'd have a kiss a few frogs before you find your prince, so to speak.
