I kinda like country music

Since no one else will say it, I will - country music is awesome. And I'm not talking about that whole Neko Case/Wilco brand of country that we all already agree is awesome. I'm talking your straight up wrangler jean, whiskey shot, rodeo country. Now, I do not own any albums of this brand of country music, but yesterday Karaoke Revolution Country arrived, which reminded me that country stars are just as capable of awesome singles of rap and R&B stars ... or at least almost. After belting out Big & Rich's country/rap hybrid, "Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy," I was left thinking about not only how fun it was to sing, but also how well crafted a single it was. Now, I used to switch over to the commercial free country video station when I was bored, but have since forgotten what channel it is. I recall though that there were a number of awesome, upbeat, confident as hell numbers that really do stick with you. Like Gretchen Wilson's "Redneck Woman," Cowboy Troy's hickhop number "I Play Chicken With the Train," or the Uncle Kracker/Kenny Chasney collaboration, "When the Sun Goes Down." Now, you might be thinking that these are my "guilty pleasure" tunes, but I've since become annoyed with the term and acknowledged that my love for R. Kelly, Justin Timberlake, or country music is not one I should be guilty of. Now, country ballads are kinda like R&B ballads - they suck. Except for that Nelly/Tim McGraw collaboration - that song was amazing. So next time you meet someone who really likes country music, don't give them the cold shoulder. Embrace it, too, and I gurantee you will be much happier.

I'm with you Will. I'm a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll. I have recurrent dreams where Lyle Lovett is my boyfriend so it must be true. And that Gretchen Wilson track is brilliant!

Any Trace Adkins on that game? Honky tonk Badonkadonk?

And aside from Ballyboy, the best song titles are inevitably found in country songs. And speaking of which, there is that Ballboy song called "I Lost You But I Found Country Music".

I agree with Barb, country for sure has the greatest song titles.
I however, am not a fan. Has a lot to do with it being forced on me as a child.
Glad you're enjoying the karaoke.

I kinda like it too. It fills a need that other genres sometimes miss. I have no negative associations with the music. My grandfather is an avid country fan (old and new) and dutifully has moved along through records, 8 tracks, tapes and cds, often buying the same recordings over. He's 80 and he still blasts it!
