The Animated Andre

This friday, Class of 3000, the new cartoon executive produced by and starring OutKast's Andre 3000, will premiere on the Cartoon Network. On the show, Andre voices a character who leaves his music career behind to become a teacher, and each episode will feature a new original song. "It's kind of like the episode or the situation dictates when the song's going to be like, even the instrumentation," Andre tells NME. "So I'm writing from, I guess, a character's standpoint.... Even though the music can go anywhere, and the music could be advanced, I have to still remember that these are kids. So I have to write in a certain way that a kid could get it and that the voice actors could come in and kind of mimic what I'm doing."

Andre has shown more interest in acting than rapping as of late, and was most recently seen alongside his musical partner Big Boi in the musical, Idlewild. I didn't get to see the film as it was out of theaters rather quickly, yet apparently it really "confused" UK rockers, Idlewild. "Not that it's likely Idlewild would play a show with Andre 3000 and Big Boi (what a stupid name)," said singer Roddy Woomble. "Maybe when our new LP comes out next February some unfamiliars will think we're some sort of Outkast tribute. Could be interesting. Probably won't be." Incidentally, there is also a really cool nightclub in New York City called Idlewild.
