Angry Face Helps No One

Ok, so yesterday, I was not in a pretty mood - but today, I think all is good. I have been rather busy which has barred me from completing another entry in the Byrds and I series. I promise that a new one will be posted soon. I think much of my grumpiness was due to a lack of sleep - something which can make even the smallest of problems seem rather significant. Now, that I have recovered from what I think is a rare thing for me, I can look onward and upward toward the future. I have really, really big N&UR plans which I cannot quite share at the moment, as I still have all of those pesky details to sort out. That, and I'm not sure quite which really, really big plans to pursue and in what order. That being said, Will Benham is rather excited.

On the documentary front, I have spent much of the year involved in two projects that are soon to see the light of day. The first was Meaghan Kimball's short doc, "Exchange," which is set to air on CurrentTV in the near future. That is the third Current project I have edited for Kimball, and will be available online real soon. Hillary and I have both been working on a doc with Alex Juhasz (one of our film professors from Pitzer) called Scale and got to see a rough cut on Sunday. The film centers around her sister, Antonia, whose book - The Bush Agenda - recently came out on Harper Collins, and also features interviews with Susan Sarandon, Cindy Sheehan, Amy Goodman ... and myself and Hillary. That's right, we are credited alongside Susan Sarandon - wild. Of course, the film looks great as well - though I'm afraid the footage I shot is not very good. As for the book, The Bush Agenda, it may be just about the best political book I've seen in some time. A rather compelling read, and not one that simply attempts to throw facts in your face. The flow is seamless, and it is bound to make you pretty upset at what the United States government and their corporate homies have been up to. I'll post more on the doc as details develop.

Tonight, Hillary and I take a much needed break from our busy lives as we will sit down to a nice dinner and then enjoy Nellie McKay live at the fabulous Bimbo's 365 Club - the same joint where we saw Neko Case. Hillary and I reached the three year mark in our relationship last week, but this shall be our big celebration. And, if you have not yet heard of Nellie McKay, well that is likely because her second album - which was set for a December 2005 release - got caught up in a lot of record company hoopla. It thankfully will see an independent release next month. Her first album - the delightfully clever Get Away From Me - is available on iTunes.

So much is going on in New and Used land! No wonder you haven't been sleeping. Or is it the ghost of the tiger upstairs?

Happy anniversary to you both! Nothing like getting out to dinner and a good show.

Happy anniversary!

I do check in to read you blog every day, but I don't comment often as a lot of your music info goes right over my head. Not your problem, of course, it's my problem for being so out of the new music loop. But I'm learning from you!

I'll keep an eye out for those vids you've been working on. Can't wait to see them!
