•The Scoop:
As I've stated a few times on this blog, I have a sincere interest in being a documentary filmmaker. Since graduating, I have not been the most productive when it comes to my chosen artform. For the past several months, I have wanted to launch a short series that would profile indie bands and artists, while also discussing various issues in the music industry. For much of last year, I was editing for an independent filmmaker, whose work was beginning to air on CurrentTV. I initially thought that this network would be a great venue for the series I wanted to launch, yet the more I got involved in my blog, the more I realized how much I enjoyed making art indpendently. I began writing for New and Used Records at the beginning of January, and since that time it has become one of the most important aspects of my life. Slowly finding an audience that shared common interest reminded me that it's not how many people you reach, but the capacity in which you reach them. I feel like I've formed friendships with my readers even though I've never met them. My studies focused heavily on indie film communities and the possibilities of new technology - creating and distributing my work in a total independent fashion seemed the most true to what I had learned and been so inspired by. It is with great pleasure that I introduce the New and Used Records video podcast.
I contacted Chris Brokaw (with the help of his sister, Kate) towards the end of last month, upon noticing that his tour was headed to San Francisco. As one whose musical career extends back to the early nineties and has existed mostly in the independent arena, Brokaw seemed like the perfect choice for the first episode. Thankfully, Brokaw - who is on the road promoting his latest record, Incredible Love - agreed. On April 2, I filmed his show at the Rickshaw Stop, and interviewed him backstage. Despite a very loud generator that went on and off, the interview went quite well and I have spent the past weeks editing, with loads of help from Hillary and Charlie. I spent much of the weekend tearing at my hair dealing with Final Cut Pro and YouTube and Google Video - but thankfully, I will be bringing this to you very, very soon.

Kudos Will. Looking very forward to seeing it.
I added the google link *I think* the trailer page looks awesome.
Will I hear you and I understand how you feel. It's amazing what this little for fun project has done for me personally, and it has influenced my direction too. I think it affords us an important and new creative outlet.
All the best with everything, your readers (listeners/watchers) will be here.
I for one would be lost without N&U Records as I get most of my music information from here since January!
This is a great new direction in which you are heading. I'm so excited that we will get to watch some of your work, as well as read about it and about your music choices. I wish you all the best in this venture.
Totally cool! You are my resource for new music (along with The Boy). I can't wait to watch the vids. It's something I'll have to do at home, tho, as they won't let us view vids or play music at work. Damn them.
Thanks all. I am excited about this. Happy you're on board to check it out. Hopefully we can incorporate videos a little bit ... I hear that's big now (vlogs they're called).
CG - Thanks ... I know you've been here since the beginning.
Jacquie - Yeah, it's amazing how the blog can influence us in so many ways. Glad we're your music source.
Barbara - First comment on the podcast page. Booyakasha.
KC - Will The Boy be doing a blog. Seems like he has good taste.
I'm excited for you too on this project. It's a lot of work, but a labor of love for sure.
The Boy has a blog but he's secretive about it. Guess he doesn't want Mom snooping around. I think he just writes about theatre with comments from his thespian friends. At least I hope that's all it is.
