Meet my new obsession - Upcoming Horror Movies. You see, when I was young, I developed a bit of an interest in horror films. By my teenage years, however, I was no longer finding them frightening, and my interest turned to that of the "horror movie business." To this day, I remain utterly fascinated by the endless number of cheap slasher flicks, and their subsequent sequels. No other genre seems to care so little about continuity. When I was in high school, the slasher genre made its comeback - with Scream. Now, Scream and its two sequels are rather interesting films - postmodern takes on the classic genre. The films that followed in its footsteps - I Know What You Did Last Summer, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, Urban Legend - were not. Nonetheless the studios kept churning them out, and for every good one (28 Days Later, Land of the Dead) there were tons of junkers (House of Wax, etc). With the straight-to-video sequel genre on the rise (Bring it On Again, Hollow Man 2), cheap horror sequels can come in even greater abundance. You won't find any original cast members in the third installment of the Last Summer series - brilliantly titled I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer. According to my new favorite website, "The story is basically the same formula, following four teens from a small Colorado town who are victimized by another masked killer a year after a July 4th prank goes wrong; killing one of their own. They make a pact to keep the information a secret, until the next Independence Day before the town's annual carnival, when the four begin to receive intimidating messages indicating that someone knows about what happened." Sounds like crap, but you can bet I'll be renting that when it hits stores in August just in time for my birthday.

Well if you're really lucky somebody will BUY it for you for your birthday and there will be no need to rent, plus you can watch it over and over and over.
