Gilmore Girls Returns to Form

:::::SPOILER ALERT:::::

The following contains serious plot details from the episode "Super Cool Party People"

Any future enjoyment of Gilmore Girls this season is marred by the fact that the Palladinos will not be returning in any creative capacity next season. That being said, let's enjoy them while we can.

Last week's episode was, in my opinion, a solid return to form. The show had been leading up to this for the past couple of weeks, but really nailed it with "Super Cool Party People." First, Sookie was in the opening scene, which was a very good sign. Then, later, we saw the town troubadour - another good sign. Luke and Lorelai weren't totally awkward; in fact, there were some truly heartfelt moments. I know most fans are very anti the whole "Luke has a daughter" thing, but I really like a lot of the Luke/April scenes. I was happy that they finally explored the "what role will Lorelai play in her life" issue. This lead to some rather powerful scenes first between Luke and Anna, and then between Anna and Lorelai. Both Lauren Graham and Sherilynn Fenn showed they still got the acting chops with that scene. It's been a while since the acting has been THAT good. Last, Paris chewing out the doctor over the phone - that was awesome. Nice to see Paris back to her old self again.
