"You just get too old," says a prominent Hollywood stylist, "and the girls move on to younger, more attainable guys." Chad Michael Murray may play a high school student on the hit WB series One Tree Hill, but his real age is 24, and he'll be 25 in August. "What One Tree Hill-watching, braces-wearing, prom-dreaming high school girl is thinking that she can date some guy in his mid-twenties," a publicist to a very prominent Hollywood star tells N&UR. "It is becoming totally out of the realm of possibility that young girls could date Chad Michael Murray, and so they move on to someone else." Yet, CMM has managed to extend his teen heartthrob status with his recent engagement to an 18-year old high school student who works on the show. "This is really the best thing he could have done," the publicist says. "This will give him at least a few more years until she gets too old."

Ah yes, he's carrying on in the grand Hollywood tradition of manufactured relationships. And it of course goes back much further than Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Rock Hudson went through a series of manufactured relationships with women in order to retain his heartthrob status.
It would appear that age is now the new homosexuality.
hmm..my favorite gossip site outs everyone and I had not heard that about him, more that he is a serial cheater. I only know his pics but he conjurs up the name smashmouth for some reason..
ps I don't agree with outing but I do agree with reading nasty gossip about silly people..
I didn't mean to imply that he is gay, Jacquie (not that there is anything wrong with that), simply that aging now carries the taboo which homosexuality once did.
