We were at the post office late yesterday afternoon so that I could mail my friend Filiberto his external firewire hard drive, and we had to wait in a little bit of a line. Now, there were three staff members there, but only two of them were working at registers (even though there are also three registers). The third postal worker was simply standing around. Now, all of us were probably wondering what the hell she was doing, but only one had the courage to ask. A woman, who probably was not having a good day, sternly spoke - "Why can't you open up this register?" The postal worker responded, "There aren't enough cashiers." She probably hoped that would be the end, but, no, the woman was not having it. "Well, what are you doing?" She asked. The postal worker responded, "Nothing!" Now, that's a pretty good comeback, but not-having-a-good-day woman fired back, "Well, what is your title? You're not qualified." "Well if you must know," postal-worker-doing-nothing responded, "I'm a letter carrier." Fascinating exchange, wasn't it? Our post office sucks.

"Such Great Heights (John Tejada Remix)" - The Postal Service
"The District Sleeps Alone Tonight" - The Postal Service
You know what has been getting me down lately? Having to wait forever for the US release of records that are already available in the Europe. 15 Minute Hipster has a few ideas to correct this (read here) and hopefully Steve Jobs is listening.
Lastly, even though you probably already have it, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs upcoming release is streaming at their MySpace page.

I listening to a session Karen and the boys are doing for Radio right now.I'm looking forward to the new album.I liked their debut but wasn't blown over by it. The new single sounds great and it seems they've fleshed out the sound a little.
I think it sounds real interesting ...
You are just very lucky that letter carrier did not decide to bring the sawed-off shotgun to work that day. Be careful what you say in post offices!
But what an excellent segue to the Postal Service that was! Kudos!
That's why I just stay quiet.
