Artists are Getting Back in that Fightin' Mood

Billboard reports that Michael Stipe will be taking part in the anti-war "Bring 'Em Home Now" concert on March 20 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. The R.E.M. frontman - who recently released an EP to raise money for victims of hurricane Katrina - will be joined by Rufus Wainwright, Fischerspooner, Chuck D, Peaches and Devendra Barnhart. The event will also include a speech by anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan.

Also on the bill is Bright Eyes, who memorably performed the Bush indictment "When the President Talks to God" early last year on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

In related news, New Orleans-based rapper Juvenile - not really known for his politics - recently released his own critique of the Bush administration and their handling of hurricane Katrina. The video for "Get Ya Hustle On / What's Happenin" premiered earlier this month, while Juvenile told Rolling Stone, "They're not even covering it anymore. If I don't speak on it, then who will?"
