Each award received by "Walk the Line" gave Ryan Phillippe the opportunity to jump up and act kinda stupid. Hillary thinks he just wanted Joaquin to acknowledge him for passing along the knowledge he gained from his intense performance in "Cruel Intentions."
Other high points included "Brokeback Mountain" screenwriter Larry McMurtry thanking his typewriter, a very gracious and humble Ang Lee, and Steve Carell continuing his streak of can-do-no-wrong with a win for Best Actor in a TV Comedy. ABC took home the gold again with wins in TV Drama and Comedy ("Lost" and "Desperate Housewives"). The "Housewives" victory comes as a little surprise, given that this past season has been a d-u-d. (There were other winners, too).
The low point was probably Gwyneth Paltrow's outfit, which caused Hillary to say, "She looks like she belongs on a wedding cake." Is it just me, or did everybody seem a little bored? The winners seemed happy, but not “Oscar happy.” And what was with Johnny Depp, Peter Jackson, and Tim Robbins all looking so scraggly. Use a comb, fellas. And - what was up with those cheesy descriptions the presenters had to read? Terrence Howard's "Hustle & Flow" character was described as a "neighborhood player." What the hell is a neighborhood player? I believe he was a p-i-m-p. As we get ready for the Oscars, "Brokeback Mountain" appears to be the front runner for Picture and Director. Given the fact that the Oscars do not differentiate between dramas and comedies/musicals, it is uncertain how the "Walk the Line" stars will fare in their respective categories. In the meantime, I will anxiously await to see what they have to say over at Pink is the New Blog.

It was pretty obvious that walk the line would win all its categories, since it didn't really have any competition. it probably won't win much at the oscars. the descriptors annoyed me too. clips are much better. also, they need to separate the tv supporting actor categories, because they have people from tv movies in with people from regular shows.
